SEBI's algo trading rules for retail traders, in plain words

For a retail trader who automates their own account, brokers describe three practical points under SEBI's retail algo framework, in force since April 2026. Orders sent through an API must come from a static IP registered with the broker. A strategy sending more than about ten orders a second must be registered through the broker; slower personal systems need no such registration. Market orders sent through an API must carry a price protection limit. This is a plain summary, not legal advice: confirm each point with your broker.

The three points, one by one

What this means when a system is built for you

A private system on your own server is built with these points in mind: it runs from one fixed address in your name, sends a handful of orders, and uses order types your broker accepts through its API. We tell you what to register with your broker and test it in paper mode first.

The rules are written for brokers and exchanges and are updated from time to time. Your broker is the right place to confirm what applies to your account today.

Where Zerokriya stands

Zerokriya is a software development and installation service. It is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser, research analyst, portfolio manager or stock broker, and it sells no strategies. The rules your system follows are your own, running in your own account.

Common questions

Is automating my own trading allowed?

Automating trades in your own account through your broker's API is offered by brokers under their own terms and the rules of SEBI and the exchanges, which can include conditions such as a fixed internet address and limits on order speed. You remain responsible for meeting those conditions for your account. We tell you what the software needs so you can check with your broker.

Is Zerokriya registered with SEBI?

No. Zerokriya is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser, research analyst, portfolio manager or stock broker. We provide software development and installation only, and give no investment advice.

Do you give strategies, signals or stock ideas?

No. Zerokriya is a software and setup service. We do not give strategies, stock ideas or signals, and we do not manage money. Every rule the system follows is yours.

What do I need before we start?

A broker account in your own name with API access, your rules written down as clearly as you can, a Telegram account, and a server. If you do not have a server, we help you rent one in your own name.
